Frequently Asked Questions

Where does face-to-face tuition take place?

Our face-to-face lessons take place in the family home and the tutor will bring all of the necessary activities and resources with them.

Are your tutors DBS checked?

All of our tutors are qualified teachers who have undergone an enhanced DBS check.

How do I pay?

From November 1st 2023, families will pay for sessions through an online system called Tutor Cruncher. Following a session, the tutor will mark a lesson complete and an invoice will automatically be sent to families requesting payment. Payment can be made online using either credit or debit card, or bank transfer.

Do you offer 2:1 sessions?

We endeavour to support all requests for tuition. If students are the same academic year and working at a similar level, a 2:1 model for tuition can be considered.

What happens in the first session?

Our qualified teachers work with the student in the first lesson to build relationships through ‘Getting to know you activities’ and where appropriate, informal assessment activities and tasks.

Should there be an adult in the house when a session takes place?

To support best practice in safeguarding families and tutors, we request an adult to be present in the home when a lesson is taking place. Our Safeguarding policy can be found in the 'Useful Documents' section.

Do you offer block payment options?

Although a discounted block payment plan is unavailable, we do have offers running at certain points in the year.

Do you accept Childcare Vouchers?

Currently, we are unable to accept childcare vouchers although we are exploring this as an option moving forward.

How do online sessions work?

The tutor will deliver the online session on a platform of their choice, with the link sent out prior to the lesson. Interactive activities, whiteboard work and games may be used by the tutor in order to meet the objectives for the session. All lessons are taught in line with our online policy.

Do you support children in EYFS?

Yes - we are lucky to have some incredible teachers, who are specialists in supporting learners working within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

What exam boards are your secondary tutors familiar with?

Depending on each teacher’s individual experience, we can cater to a range of secondary exam boards, including AQA and Pearson EDEXCEL.

How do I give feedback?

We encourage feedback at any point of the tuition programme and can be made directly via email.
